Prime Minister Narendra Modi prais UIed the role of civil servants in successfully defeating Kovid-19 (PTI file) in a tweet on Civil Services Day.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted the role of civil servants in the country in the fight against coronavirus pandemic. More than 18,000 infections and 600 deaths have been reported in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated his family and civil servants on the occasion of Civil Services Day.

“I applaud his efforts in successfully defeating COVID-19 in India. They are working around the clock, helping those in need and making sure everyone is healthy.

Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel paid tribute and shared his speech on Civil Service Day 2018.

President Ram Nath Kovind said "civil servants have played an important role in implementing policies and programs for the public welfare".

"Even today, our nation's Steel Service, Civil Service, and COVID-19 have demonstrated its strength and vision in maintaining the sensitivity and professionalism of the country.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave "heartfelt congratulations" to all civil servants and their families on the occasion of Civil Service Day.

Shah tweeted, "He played a significant role in India's progress. In these challenging times of today, his dedication, commitment and efforts to defeat COVID-19 are truly admirable."

According to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, the government sees April 21 as Civil Service Day, "to restore our commitment to civil servants to dedicate themselves to the interests of the citizen and to excel in public service and work."

Civil Service Day is celebrated on April 21 after the first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel addressed the Probes of the Administrative Service Officer in 1947 at Metcalf House in Delhi. Today he calls civil servants the "Steel Frame of India."

The Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration will be implemented by Districts or Units for Implementation of Priority Programs and Innovation Communities as part of Civil Services Day.

According to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, the first ceremony was held in April 2006 at Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today praised the efforts of the authorities in the fight against coronaviruses during Civil Service Day.

"Today, on the occasion of Civil Service Day, I wish all the civil servants and their families. I appreciate their efforts to ensure that India successfully defeats COVID-19. They are working around the clock, helping the poor and making everyone healthy." The PM tweeted this morning.

The Civil Service Day is celebrated on April 21 every year, an opportunity for bureaucrats to renew their commitment to public service.

Prime Minister Modi also shared a video addressing Civil Services Day in 2018, in which he spoke about appreciation, evaluation and introspection of bureaucracy.

April 21 was chosen to mark the day when Independent India's first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, addressed the Probationers of the Administrative Service in 1947. In his speech, Sardar Patel called civil servants "the steel framework of India." ".

Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu said the high professional standards of the officers have helped the country to stand up for peace and crisis. "Our civil servants are spearheading India's fight against COVID-19 with doctors and medical professionals ... We thank all the fighters who have risked their lives in the face of infection to protect us all," she said.
